Wedding FAQs

  • If you appreciate genuine moments, don’t necessarily like being the center of attention, adore your partner and family, want to experience your day in the moment and/or want natural imagery depicting your love - then we are sure to work well together.

  • Let’s talk about the vision for your day and I’ll make suggestions. Typically, I’d cover an hour of getting ready, and an hour of dancing. I do not discount for breaks during the day.

  • Often if your wedding is smaller (under 50ppl), you don’t need a second photographer. If you are planning an average sized wedding (50-150ppl), are getting ready in different locations, have a larger wedding party/family or if you’ve created tons of details you’d like photographed - I’d recommend a second photographer. Of course we can discuss what’s important to you and I’ll make a recommendation.

    1. Even though they are joyous occasions, weddings can be stressful for everyone involved. I’ve learned to plan throughly with the couple ahead of time (& communicate those plans to planners and important family) so that day-of uncertainties and thus stress are reduced. That doesn’t mean I don’t leave space for magic - that is essential.

    2. Be present throughout the day and try not to let small things upset you. Enjoy every single moment.

    3. I’ve realized over years of documenting weddings that we need to make time to capture intimate candids with all parents - this doesn’t always happen naturally. I also suggest the couple enjoy at least half of their cocktail hour.

    4. I’d suggest doing a reveal of the dress/attire to the wedding party. It allows for your dear friends to see you at the height of your excitement and for moments to be captured as you celebrate being fully ready.

    5. Even if you are planning a larger wedding (over 150ppl), I’d suggest planning smaller get-togethers with people you are especially close with.

  • I tend to deliver around 100 edited images per hour of shooting time. So for an 8 hour day, 800 or more images.

  • I’ll deliver a sneak peek of 40-50 images within a week of your wedding. The remainder of your images (& slideshow) are delivered within 4-6 weeks from your wedding date. I’ll stay in touch throughout the process.

  • No, but you will be given what’s known as Unlimited Personal Usage Rights so that you (or anyone who downloads an image) may make their own print products in perpetuity. Just download the Amelia Ann Photo photo release that is emailed to you after you download images. Bring it with you to the print shop in case they ask for it.

 Family FAQs

  • If you appreciate genuine moments with your family, if you want to document your children as they typically play, if you want natural imagery depicting your love - then we are sure to work well together. The first step of my booking process is to connect with you either through email, by phone or in person. Please inquire and I’ll try my best to respond within 24 hours.

  • I’d base this off of what you and your family love doing. This is often a walk or hike with gorgeous views, but can be held at home or even on your daily neighborhood walk. If you have just had a newborn, I’d suggest an at-home session. If you have teenagers who seem pre-occupied by their electronics, perhaps you take them off grid for an evening on an adventure. Or – you can embrace the technology and create a movie-poster-like custom art piece of your entire family. No matter what you choose, you should prepare to get dirty and always be present.

  • I have several sessions involving different lengths of time which each have their own cost. A basic 2 hour session is a flat $600, with longer sessions costing at or above $1000. All sessions include around 100 high resolution digital downloads that you may print for personal use. Remember – this is an investment in your family, your legacy and your collective memories.

  • A standard family session is about 2 hours long. If you decide to travel farther or bring me along with you camping - obviously that will extend the session.

  • Of course this depends upon the type of session you choose, but for a standard family session - I’d suggest coordinating your outfits - in other words…don’t wear the same color, but rather wear complementary colors (blues/yellows, greens/maroons, earth tones, neutrals with soft pastel tones). I’d put the children in patterns. If you choose to wear red, I’d balance it with having other folks wear red accessories. I also appreciate textures like lace and knits. Whatever you choose to wear, just be sure you feel beautiful in it. Of course, if you choose to hire me to document a family adventure, wear the appropriate clothing for the activity.

  • I’ll deliver on average about 100 images in (2-4 weeks) within a personalized web gallery where you can download high resolution files. You (& anyone you share the link with) will have full rights to print the images for personal purposes. I’ll also create a slideshow set to music for you to share with family afar. The slideshow is downloadable as an .mp4 file.

  • I’ve been an observer for years and have turned my skill from observation into documentation because I believe it is essential to step away from the chaos of life, narrow your focus and cherish each and every moment. Imagine preparing for the inevitable slow down when your children leave home and/or when you’d like to reflect on how you’ve grown or how your family has changed. Society’s need for immediate gratification and the sheer number of images you likely take with your cell phone are diluting what is most important – documenting moments to reflect upon so that you can remember the beautiful passage of life.

  • I’d be happy to meet up and buy you a beverage at a location of your choosing. I have been through a lot myself so I will be very understanding.
